Volunteers are critical to the success of carrying out the Delta Kappa Alpha mission and ensuring an extraordinary DeKA experience. Volunteer positions offer a way to stay connected to the Fraternity and provide leadership opportunities in a variety of focus areas as outlined below. National Councilor
Experience, Skills, and Competencies (3-7 hours per month)

Any alumni member in good standing may be nominated for election. Interested members should possess the following skills:
- Experience, ability and desire to work in a professional non-profit board environment.
- A commitment to the strategic vision of the Fraternity.
- A commitment to the mission of the Fraternity.
- A commitment to the Fraternity’s financial stability.
- Demonstrated background in assessing and managing organizational/operational risk.
- Demonstrated analytical-/critical-thinking skills and ability to evaluate opportunities.
- Demonstrated decision-making skills.
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and manage time effectively with a multitude of board-related responsibilities.
- Commitment to the Delta Kappa Alpha Foundation and its programs and goals.
- Commitment to Delta Kappa Alpha Housing Corporation and its programs and goals.
- Knowledge and experience in at least two of the following:
- High-level professional non-profit board experience
- Marketing
- Finance
- Event Planning
- Legal
- Communications
- Insurance/Risk Management

Foundation Trustee
Serves on the Foundation’s Board of Directors; Reviews and decides on policy decisions related to fundraising, investing of assets and granting of awards and scholarships.
5-15 hours/month
Chief Learning Officer
Develops and implements educational policy that addresses needs of both undergraduates and graduates; Facilitates the execution of educational programs that are sound in learning fundamentals, current in content, and professionally delivered; Serves as primary advocate for the development of our organization as an innovative learning institute.
10-30 hours/month
Director of Volunteer Recruitment
Leads the organization’s efforts to proactively seek out volunteers to serve in national and local roles; Applies executive recruiting techniques to attract highly qualified and motivated alumni volunteers
10-20 hours/month
Director of Communication Infrastructure
Develops technology plan for the organization, including the design of the website, related websites and database integration; Helps evaluate software/services for use by the staff (volunteer & Los Angeles-based) and membership.
20-30 hours/month
National Service Advisor
Plans and executes national service and philanthropic initiatives and activities; Fosters a culture of appreciation and recognition of community service and philanthropy within our organization; Enhances our ability to attract new members who are service oriented.
10-30 hours/month
National Legal Advisor
Provides analysis and counsel to the CEO and National Council on legal issues that impact or potentially impact the organization.
10-30 hours/month
National Recruitment Advisor
Researches and makes recommendations to the CEO and National Council regarding the recruitment of collegiate and alumni members.
5-15 hours/month
National Chaplain
Serves as advisor to the CEO and National Council on issues of Ritual and organizational values; Leads Ritual at national events and charterings; Develops and delivers presentations on Ritual and related information at national events.
5-10 hours/month; as needed for events
Presidents Academy Dean
To serve as the lead volunteer responsible for the design, development and delivery of each Presidents Academy. To oversee all aspects of Presidents Academy and ensure that objectives are met. To function as the primary point of contact for communication with other volunteers and Executive Offices staff regarding Presidents Academy.
5-10 hours/month (20 hours/month for the three months leading up to event)
Regional Conference Dean
“To serve as the lead volunteer responsible for the design and development of the curriculum of Regional Conferences. To oversee delivery of Regional Conferences to ensure that objectives are met. To function as the primary point of contact for communication with other volunteers and Executive Office staff regarding Regional Conferences.”
5-10 hours/month (20 hours/month for the three months leading up to event)
Volunteer Development Institute Dean
To serve as the lead volunteer responsible for the design, development and delivery of an annual Volunteer Development Institute (VDI). To oversee all aspects of the VDI to ensure that objectives are met. To function as the primary point of contact for communication with other volunteers and Executive Offices staff regarding the VDI.
5-10 hours/month (20 hours/month for the three months leading up to event, and 40 hours for the month of the event)
Strategic Future Group Chairperson
Leads a committee of volunteers to research and make recommendations to the CEO and National Council regarding educational and cultural matters that may potentially impact the organization.
5-20 hours/month
Convention and/or Conclave Documentarian
Leads a committee of volunteers to professionally and thoroughly document Conclave and/or Convention through videography and photography.

Committee Member:
Cinematic Affairs
Analyzes and evaluates new and existing Cinema Literacy, Industry Education, and Production programming and resources by making recommendations to the CLO and director of educational initiatives.

Leadership Development

Alignment
Executes alignment plan of action as outlined by the alignment strategic planning task force; Makes recommendations to the CEO and National Council regarding the improvement of the task force.
