It is critical to develop events and opportunities for Delta Kappa Alpha Brothers to give of themselves and in the process, make the community a better place as a result of those efforts. In addition to film mentorships, Spread The Word to End the Word® campaign, and Founders Month of Service initiatives, Delta Kappa Alpha focuses our national philanthropic efforts in partnership with SeriousFun Children’s Network-founded by DKA Alumnus, Paul Newman.
SeriousFun Children’s Network
SeriousFun Children’s Network provides a safe summer camp experience for children with serious illnesses and life-threatening conditions. Founded in 1988 by DKA Alumnus Paul Newman, the then-Association of Hole in the Wall Camps was adopted as Delta Kappa Alpha’s national philanthropy in 2012. Since then, Delta Kappa Alpha members have supported the camps through philanthropy and service.
Additionally, DeKAs travel to SeriousFun camps throughout the country to serve as positive role models. Many members volunteer as cabin counselors, activity specialists, unit leaders, and other camp staff during a week or summer as a camp counselor.
Full-time staff members are hired for the summer sessions beginning in January. Brothers and sisters interested in being selected to work full-time must complete an application and proceed through an interview process. Please note most camps have all of their full time positions secured by March.
Volunteers interested in working for one week or more also must complete an application and interview. You are encouraged to apply early in the spring semester. If you are interested in applying, click on the camp link to be directed to the camp website. Applications and specific requirements are available there or can be obtained by calling the camp directly.
